Not much really. When you subscribe to a forum, that forum will show up when you access your profile. Try it by subscribing to a particular forum then going into 'profile'.
The big difference comes when you subscribe to a message thread. This means that you will receive an email notification when a new message is posted in this thread. This allows you to keep up with a given topic even if you haven't posted to it.

Great Question Sean and congratulations on your FIRST post. The more you poke around Optiboard the more you will find your favorite spots. If you subscribe to a particular thread, you will be notified by e-mail when someone makes a post to that thread. That is if you enabled that feature in your profile. If you didn't you can go back and change it by hitting "Edit Profile button. The advantage to subscribing is that the url for that thread will be in your email and you can go there directly. You will only receive one email regardless of the number of posts since your last visit You must visit the thread in order to re-enable this feature.Your email will tell you --No more e-mail notifications until you visit.Thats to avoing clogging everyones mailboxes but Subscribing will keep you up to date.I look forward to seeing more of your posts. You have a lot to offer the rest of us and I know you will enjoy this experience.
Best from Harry J
PS Changed my mind-I'll let Steve move it if he thinks it should be moved.
