Ehllo, all. I have a question.

I was wondering how and where all of you (us) Optiboarders access the 'Board.

Are you cable, or phone line?

Do you access at work, or at home, or both??

Steve, perhaps we could include this question in the registration/ profile section.

I think it may be of value.

Those are my thoughts, not yours.

I am definately at home. Since I become so easily pre-occupied on-line(especially Optiboard),I would probably have been fired long ago.I guess that is one reason WM has there own computer system where you can not access the internet. It sure would make my job alot more fun if I could surf the web :)

I am at home with an ISP that runs through my phone line. The cost of a cable modem and the increase in the monthly fee is not worth it. My PIII 56K is fast enough for now.

My access is by phone modem, usually from home but also from work and on the road. Can you elaborate as to why this information might be useful?

I have DSL at home - blazing fast and super cool!

I also have two computers networked through my phone lines so they can share the Internet connection. It's amazing that the exact same wires support:

1. My regular phone line
2. A network connection between two computers, and
3. A DSL line.

However adding this question to the profile section would be a tremendous amount of hacking. I'm not really that good of a programmer to handle something like that yet.

We access the board from home most of the time, but occasionally from work if its real slow. ISP through work is the phone line, but at home we have cable modem & really like the extra speed!

Both, and on the road, IF I get the time. Phone line.

Here in good old blighty most of us are still on 56k modems (only the rich run isdn or cable modems) Still waiting for true broadband access. We are only just getting unmetered access now, its great 24/7 for £5.00 a month, bliss after paying 1p per min before. As for where at home.

I access the Optiboard at work mostly...with a BLAZING fast cable modem...worth it's weight in gold. At home where the porn takes much longer to download...it's a 56k. ;)

Hello Schwing; I am always at the office. I really need to break down and put a computer at home. I usually take up to much of my time at the office playing on this silly machine. Jim Seebach

All of my monkey business is done from the privacy of my own home ;-). We've got a real dandy system at work, but it's solely for the training CD-ROM's. Guess they're worried about people like me screwing it up... not that I ever would *innocent grin*!
Oh well, as long as I've got my modem, I'm set!

Thank goodness we've only got internet and email access from home, as it is 12 hours in the lab isn't enough.

We're using ISDN, a big improvement on the 56 k modem, but only as good as the server is able to handle.... at peak hours it all just gridlocks and there's no point in even trying to surf, right now, at 6.30 in the morning it's instant access to anything on the net, like a T1 connection, and it's still an old Pentium 90...... as my Dad used to say, if it works well, don't mess around with it and don't get rid of it...... funny, it's only in recent years I realised what he was referring to....... the pretty receptionist in the store!

Have a great weekend ty'all

Phone ... Home ... Work
Home and work are one in the same, being in outside sales I work out of the house. I've gotta get me the DSL deal. Unfortunately the phone lines in my area won't support it. Those of you using CABLE, how much better (faster) is it than std phone line, really?
