Hello everyone!

I've recently had some problems with lenses coated with the above coatings to turn while edging and wondered if anyone out there had the same issue. I clean the lenses with methylhydrate, put the clear pad on,
cut the lens large the first time, adjusted the clamp pressure on the edger to high and the cutting pressure to low.
I will welcome any comments or suggestions.

Thanks,

Alize has a blue coating on top that you keep on. Do not clean the lens or wipe it off until you are done cutting.

We use Spartans. We keep the pressure set low to avoid crazing. We used to have problems with slippage on Alize lense lenses but it seems to have miraculously dissapeared even when the non slip edge coat has been comprimised.

I am not sure what you mean by "clear pad". I would suggest the "HOOKER PAD" from OMS. You could order the regular, non oleophobic, etc AR coatings and apply the OMS Diamond Slick Coat from the same company(OMS) and have no edging fears. You apply the slick stuff after edging!. A fellow Optiboarder, Chris Ryser, runs the company and may be able to advise you. Best of luck.

I have no business intrest in the above named company.

Please advise me as to what are Spartans?
Thanks in advance.

The clear pad that I'm referring to are the ones that Nikon gives out with their Ice coatings. Please advise why you would apply the Slick Coat AFTER edging instead of as a treatment before edging?

Thanks in advance.

Very simple.............you buy regular AR coated lenses from whoever you want..........then you edge them, no turning of lenses and no problems or worries..................then you apply the slick coat as the last application and you beat the problem.

Plus you saved a ton of money.
