How can I get rid of that white outline on semi rimless glasses? Polishing the edges doesn't remove it. I know I can do an edge coat but is there any other way?

Why does some semi rimless have this and some don't?

My guess would be that the groove is too deep

Interesting, you think it is the groove? What can be done about it now?

HAPPYLADY If you are looking at the front surface of the lens and you see white, the groove is too deep. You can't fix it, other than make new lenses or edge the lens down far enough that the white is no longer visible...not advisable.

There should be an adjustment on your groover (or whatever that thing is called). As a rule of thumb, no more than 2/3 the width of the cord should sit inside the groove

Thanks everyone. We didn't edge these lenses, a outside lab did the entire job. Would an edge coat make any difference?

It might be interesting to know what lens material you are talking about.

This particular pair is 1.67 but I was also asking in a general way since I have seen this before.

On poly you could chemically treat the groove. I have also changed the clear nylon thread with blue fishing line.

As per above post's it could also be too deep. When mounted, the nylon should protrude a hairline above the lens edge.

Yea, I knew I could get the answer here! I have been in this business over 25 years, but I never stop learning.

If you can wait good old time will solve the problem. Dirt and grime will accumulate in the groove and around the nylon string, problem will go a way.
How long, depends on how much dirt and oil they are subjected to.
