Hai All,
This is my first post. I am planning to get Transition glasses for my new pair of spectacles. My eye sight is just about 2.5 speherical.
Here are 2 questions:
1. Some people say theya re not good for health. I haven't got satisfactory explanation from them but just wondering why theya re not good for eyes?
2. Its already winter now. Are they of any help in winter?
Thank you.

1) I have never heard they aren't good for your health. Ask the person telling you this why they think this. This is the first time I ever heard this strange idea.

2) They are great in the winter because they will get darker in colder weather then when it is hot.

3) They won't change in a car (except a convertible) so a clip-on or separate pair of sunglasses are handy.

The only reason I can think that someone might say that is that the photochromic lens adjusting to light makes your pupil a little lazy. If you get used to wearing the lens, and then don't have them on a bright day, your eyes will be sensitive to light.

That's my guess.

Thank you very much for the replies. Just one more question.
I am planning to get Lasik done to my eyes to get rid of sight. Does using transition glasses effect in any way?
Thank you.

The person to ask any questions regarding lasik is your eye doctor.

If your correction is about a -2.50 and you are anywhere near your 40's or older, you might consider that being moderately nearsighted allows you to see up close after the age of 40. If you correct your distance in both eyes then you will need to wear glasses to see anything up close.

Your distance correction is very close to mine (unless you meant you are +2.50) and I enjoy being able to see everything close up with no correction. My husband has wonderful distance but everything from 3 feet in is blurry without his glasses. He thinks I am better off!

I hope to God that you are not going to have surgery "to get rid of sight." I know the Bible tells you that "If thine eye offends thee, pluck it out." But as a practical matter getting rid of sight is not a good idea.
