I have a pet peeve with the ads in our trade rags. I have brought that up on Optibaord in the past.

I just flipped thru the Aug issue of Eyecare Business. Check out the ad for Calvin Klein Collection on page 15. Take note of the left nose pad arm! Broken, never there, defective, airbrushed? I believe the right one is not there or airbrushed away also. UGH!

vision monday for sept 11 page 21 add for opal optical usa has a less than half dressed woman holding a wine glass in the background her glasses on a coffee table in the foreground. I have absolutely no problem with scantily clad women but what does this have to do with the glasses.

Fezz, it kind of looks to me as though maybe there's just a shadow falling on the left nosepad. Or maybe they were airbrushed to help the glasses look better... most likely. Who would wear those anyway?! LoL

What sometimes appear to be photographs are most often illustrations. They are enhanced to show a product in a manner that the advertiser wishes, not to represent an exact replica of the product. For examples, what appear to be photographs of automobiles are actually illustrations with the principle planes of the car i.e. the side and the front at an angle in excess of 90 degrees. It better shows the car and we don’t notice that the perspective is skewed.

That’s the beauty of advertising. You can change reality to suite your needs and the public believes you. As an old salesman told me many years ago, “the difference between rape and rapture is salesmanship.”

Dont blame the magazines.................blame the guy's that place the add. Magazines live from advertising and give a hoot what it is as long as it's not offensive or against the law.

Blame the advertising company for presenting you a product that looks better in the advertisng than in reality, even if parts of the products are missing or deleted.

I believe a large number of the frames are just computer added to the models. It may not be true for all of the pictures, but I believe it is true for the 'celeb' models.....
