Hi Jim,
I heard that Drivewear was to find an array of molecules that would activate in visible light, and this would allow for reaction of the molecules behind the windshield of a car.
So it means that the color of Drivewear lens will change without UV light?

Drivewear lenses are capable of sensing and reacting to varying light conditions both outside and behind the windshield of the car. From bright sunlight accompanied by intense, blinding glare, to overcast inclement conditions, Drivewear lenses provide the wearer with the appropriate visual solution. Drivewear lenses provide glare protection through polarization and enhance and protect vision through photochromics which respond to both visible and UV light.http://www.drivewearlens.com/drivewear/index.php

That's what I've been trying to tell you ... see this other thread, where it is now being discussed in more detail:

Hi Rinselberg,

I have the samples in my hand, but unfortunately it only available in SV instead of PAL. I will try from behind the windshield of a cars, although I haven't grinded the semi-finished lens yet. Already tried under direct sunlight and it cahnged to dark reddish brown color.

i have just obtained a sample of drivewear lens. i have to say i was quite impressed with the performance though the original color is abit too dark to my liking.
The original color (freshly taken out of the bag) is about 60% yellow brown, when taken under strong light ( i took the lens under sunlight in a shopping centre, which is under a glass dome), the lens changes to reddish brown and stayed at around 80%. I will post back any feedback when i have the opportunity to prescribe one.

Have you ever tried from behind the windshield of a car? How dark is it?

I have to say these lenses are brilliant for golf and should be marketed for that purpose as well....also I am really dying to find out when we might see hi index/poly and progressives....that is what is required to really get this lens to take off.

Thanks for marketing advice. But I might have to wait for PAL for test wearing purpose.

CEO- Did your dad really invent progressives??

My father invented the first commercially viable "invisible" bifocal. This was in 1954 before progressives were commerically sold. This bifocal was called the Younger Seamless Bifocal, and was more in appearance to a round segment with the transition zone smoothed out, rather than an abrupt segment line.
