Steve,
I seen the thread on lens thickness and I was going through some of my stuff in the lab and a few years back I got a "slide" rule from a SOLA rep that when you moved the scale to a certian power (plus on the front, minus on the back) looked up in another window and it gives you the CT for the plus powers and on the reverse the edge thickness on the minus powers compared to CR39 and spectralite... in 3 different blank sizes (50 mm, 60 mm, 70 mm) ...this little slide sure comes in handy and we even took it a step furthe and had a rough formula (scale) to go into other indexes attached to it.. of course it is all based on zero decentration but it sure is a fast way to check to get a pretty good idea...
So do you guys still make this slide rule? it's about 9 inches long and 3 or so inches wide and is a nice mauve color :)
Just thought some of the guys that were in the other thread might want to get one.. comes in pretty handy.
