Today, August 13th is National Left-Handers Day. How many of us creative and wonderful lefties are out there in Opti-Land?

It's amazing how many patients notice I'm left handed. It is also amazing how many of the 70+ then say "I was left handed too, but then they....." and some story involving being hit on the knuckles or having the left hand tied behind their back at school.

My grandmother was a leftie and when my parents tried to discourage my leftie-ness, she told them that my mouth was in the middle.

Correct handed here too.

As my grandmother (who was also left handed) use to tell me "everyone is born left-handed... until they sin".

I am also just trying to get by in a world designed by right handers.

Somehow, it doesn't surprise me in the least that JRS is a leftie!

I was one of those "lefties" that was taught to be a rightie (I remember having to use the "funny green handled scissors" in Kindergarten, but figured out how to negotiate the "normal" scissors early on).

Now, here's a real puzzler- according to an extensive study conducted by Dr. Diane Halpern, lefties (on average) supposedly have lifespans significantly shorter than righties. So, does switching from left to right eliminate the "lefty penalty?" As I recall, the answer is "no."
:o

Hmmm...my aforementioned Grandma, the only other leftie in the family, at least to my knowlege, was 94 when she died. And I'm not going any where any time soon!
