We're looking for a supplier of small frames for children, not just scaled-down regular frames, but frames with bridges that fit young children's noses.
Sizes down to 34mm eye are needed.
Zeiss actually do one great model, but there have to be others around too..... any help will be appreciated
With thanks, Clive

There used to be a company called Tann's that does childrens frames. I am not sure but I think Logo distributes them now. they did small stuff with cable temples. We would fit infants in them. Good luck!

I like Fisher Price from Clear Vision check them out. I fit many pediatric patients in these. I love the cc temples as small as 115mm. They also have some Euro "hip" styles.

We carry the Tann's line also and it is offered by Logo. We also do well with the Mickey and Company by Marchon.

Havent used them in years there used to be a company Como from Italy that had plastic frames with no hinges screws etc ffor children down to infants. The retainer strap was very soft elastic and worked very very well. I had one boy wear them as his only glasses for a number of years until we determined that he could have a nice pair of FP frames for some occasions and the cOMO FRAMES FOR HIS BEATER PAIR....REMEMBER A 3 YEAR OLD BOY who tends to be rough with things
THe one office I worked in had a considerable number of FP frames, some disney with and without the logos and some Polo Prep frames for the older kids that wanted adult looks but needed kid tough frames

Centennial has a set of childrens frames that come in really small sizes.
Give Lafont a try, though i think the smallest eye is a 39mm, but kids like to wear them because they are so colourful.

ComoBaby still available in white, blue, pink and two sizes from Frannell.
For infants it is probably the only thing to use, as it is near indestructable and these little people tend to love to take thier glasses off and throw them as far as they can.

Clive,
Are you asking for run-of-the-mill kids, or "specialty" type frames for infants?
Timely you should ask now, since I had a 1-yr-old with ROP that was
-15.00 from the big peds practice stop by for an adjustment of the frame they fit him with: standard Disney frame with cable temples, etc. It was a good example that at some age (under 3), "junior adult" frames don't cut it, and this kid was going to have trouble putting up with this kind of frame, and frankly, no amount of adjustment would optimize it.
So, I did call Franel for "Como Baby" and they're sending it. I'll give a mini-product review, and maybe you can find some source to get it.

I've used the ComoBaby for years. A little low on style but so very good for infants and toddlers. It's the parents who turn up their noses and demand more style. Like an infant cares...

Judy or Chip, can you preview this frame a little? Can you present it as a "sports frame" concept, to make the pill less bitter, as was alluded to earlier? Will it hold the requisite high power lenses? How adjustable is it?

THe Como Baby frames are akin to sports frames in the manner of their near indestructability. If you fit them always order an extra elastic strap or two as they tend to go south over time

Hi drk,
I actually started this thread 5 years ago, and surprised to see it surface again.
In the meantime, a local imported/distributor has cleverly put together a very full range of kiddies frames, many styles and colours and different bridge fittings and our problems have (almost) been solved.
One of my biggest problems is that the curled sides always seem to be too long and manufacturers don't understand the importance of making and supplying different length sides.
I have recently had to cut sides just before the curl, remove about 8mm than do a silver solder to rejoin the pieces and after filing and smoothing, cover the 'wound' with coloured shrink tubing.

For the little folks in need of cables A&A is another option. Aspex has some of the memory metals that have worked well for us. Good luck.
