this lens rated very well in the OHIO study. Has anyone used it, any feedback. Do you know from which lab I could order this lens in Canada? Thank you.

but I can tell you about the lens. We have quit using Essilor product and have split between Hoya and Shamir. The Genesis is available in alot of materials and transitions both grey and brown. Comfort wearers seem to love the lens and the 2 pairs I have are equal to my Hoya ECP's.
You can put a multitude of coatings on the lens and the price point is a little above the Younger Image, but less than the Essilor products here in the US. We've used the lens for over a year with no non adapts. (Knock on wood!)
Good luck to you!!

We use a number of labs Hoya San Diego stocks it and does the coating in house. . .1-800-544-2015. Pech Optical stocks it and does the coating in house. . .1-800-831-2352. Midland Optical stocks it and we get Endura from them. . .1-800-325-3176. I know Ritestyle stocks it to and does the coating in house, but I don't remember their phone number off the top of my head.

It is available in Canada. Just walk down to your Shoppers chain :(
Yes, Shoppers has an exclusive on it. Then the company goes out and takes this nice lens and slaps some green junk that they try to pass for AR on it.
Kind of like a Porche covered in house paint.

Well I was just talking about Canada. See the problem here is a chain has the exclusivity on it. I wonder what will happen now that Lux bought Shoppers out though.
Kind of like a Porche covered in house paint. That explains it perfectly.
I wonder if we will see Shamir try to make in roads with the independants after Shoppers changes over to Pearle and they get kicked to the curb.

I would like to see it happen. I like Essilor's products, but with the other companies offering no real stock choice, and the other indy labs trying to be cheap, we do not get a lot of alternatives.
We've been using more and more Hoya these days. Good range of stock lenses and the coatings are really great. $$ is right too.

Ya, I am starting to get into Hoya too. The only problem is the company does not stock super hi. Every AR I do is easy clean, and I want to duplicate that.
If Hoya stocked Trivex Super Hi I would probably use that lens quite a bit.

If Hoya stocked Trivex Super Hi I would probably use that lens quite a bit.I just ordered and received a stock order of the Phoenix Hi-vision coated lenses....I love the lenses and the A/R is excellent. I now stock the trivex for low powers up to +/- 2 with up to a 2 cyl. Also I have the crizal orma 15 for he cheaper stuff and a complete stock of Airwear Alize starting around -2.5 up to -550 or so... to top it off I have a partial stock of TL1.67 alize....
The problem I had with the essilor stuff was all the low power airwear's were too thin(1.2ct) to groove and too thin to drill(not durable) flex too much. The Trivex rules in that area!! I luv it.:D

I've been using shamir products for the last 2 years, and I am pleasantly suprised by the quality and the price. I use Beitler Mckee in Pittsburg Pa.

pet peeve - it is Pittsburgh.
now that beitler sold out to essilor maybe you should consider Three Rivers Optical an independent lab. other than using their services am not connected with afore mentioned company and do not profit from my recommendation.

Usually up to a -4.00, depending on decentration and eye size, in metal groove and nylon rimless. I don't use it much for full rim frames as it takes forever to edge and I like to keep our Lab tech happy. For low plus I still us the spherical Phoenix because it comes in a 70mm blank.

You could also consider:
Premeir Lens Lab
106 Laird St.
Greensburg, PA 15601
1-866-720-1400 Contact: Paul.
They are a small lab near Pittsburgh, and are real easy to deal with. They sell Shamir. I also suggest asking them about their pricing on the Younger Image!!
If you do call, tell Paul that you saw this on Optiboard and Bob from Colonial Optometric in Downingtown, PA said to call. They really are great folk.
I do not work for or profit from above statements. Just trying to help the little guy.

You might also consider Luzerne Optical in Wilkes-Barre, PA, right on the south side of Lake Erie. 800-233-9637. They carry Shamir, I've dealt with them as a customer for years and they're a good quality lab. Also they're an independent :bbg:

Sorry , I don't know. I have the information from somebody who works in a lab , but we don't keep in touch. Try the internet, maybe you're luckier than me.
