The Virginia State Board for Opticians is holding a special meeting to discuss proposed changes to the current regulations. It is important that every VA licensed Optician try to attend this meeting. Our "friends" from the NAOO will be there.

The meeting will be held at the DPOR building at 3600 West Broad Street in Richmond at 9:00AM on Friday, Oct 27, 2000. Please make every effort to show your support for professional Opticianry in Virginia.

Judy.......Good luck to you. Is it a sunset review? Although I am not licensed in Virginia, yet, (I sit for the Practical in June) if there is anything that can be helpful, let me know.

Jackie, no, it's not a sunset review. The State Board has recommended some regulatory changes, including some regarding reciprocity. The proposed changes were distributed and reviewed at the OAV Fall Conference. What we are looking for right now is a show of support for these changes by filling the meeting room with Licensed Opticians. With enough numbers, I hope that the NAOO folks won't even be able to find a chair! There is strength in numbers and Friday, October 27th is the day that VA Opticians need to step up to the plate.
