Moved from general forum to here where it should be...
Can anyone say/estimate about how long Transitions should effectively last nowadays for new plastic lenses?
Thx.

Hello SkiBunny,
The quotes on lifetime Ron posted from other threads are still valid. Transitions® V will last 2 to 3 years of normal use.
This is a global statement, Toronto is far enough above the equator that your set will last 3 to 4 years unless you spend and inordinate time on the lakes every summer day.
Living in Florida, I change eyewear about every 18 months. My lenses still perform like new. I change mainly because of new products and for different looks at Trade shows and events in the industry.
Next Generation has been out for 3½ years. I have seen a handfull sent in to show us they fatigued early. In each case it has been people who worked outside for a living and as an extreme, a commercial fisherman comes to mind. These folks should be wearing polarized sunwear, not a photochromic lens that is for the 80% of the time you want a convenient glare control feature in your eyewear.
I hope this helps.
Jim
Thanks Jim... well then I may not get 4 years as you suggested, because indeed I do get out on the lakes sailing and onto the sunny beaches of georgian bay & muskoka nearly 30 days each spring/summer. I also like to hit the sunny ski slopes a dozen days a year. The rest of the time there is considerably less UV exposure to my eyewear.
If on the slopes I wear UV goggles over my glasses and I wear a polarized sun clip on my glasses on the beach, as i usually do, should that extend the expected life of the Transitions V to 4 years?? (of course I'll have an AR coating)
