We started collecting the layout stickers for different lenses to overlay on a patient's frame, to make sure that any given PAL would actually fit in a frame where the patient liked to wear them. Looking between the ECP and CD lenses, you can overlap them, and see that the difference between distance and near is at most, only 2mm different. How then can reps, and my OLA Progressive Identifier say that the ECP needs 18mm, and the CD 14mm?

Am I just being a dummy?

Thanks

We fit at 14mm (CD) and 16mm (ECP)? That's what our lab has given us as min. fitting hts.

You are correct with the OLA book as having the CD @ 14mm and the ECP @ 18mm.

How are you sure that the layout charts are accurate?

I mean other than the distance between the laser markings and where the OC lays I never trust the layout charts.

I bet you the layout charts are manufacturered by one company and are just reproduced for everyone.

I get frustrated at times because it seems that at first I am given tools to make decisions about progressive lenses, but then, as soon as I start to do that, I'm told that they are not accurate representations of the progressive.

On my CD and ECP lenses with AR, from the lab, they come with a plastic, stick on layout chart showing the distance and near circles. It is those that I am comparing. They are at most 2mm different in height. Are these accurate, and if not, what is an accurate tools to use?

Thanks

I would call your Hoya rep and ask 'em....or the tech person at the lab. The CD came out after I left but we were told 18mm for the ECP

My rep stopped by my office yesterday. She looked at the layout charts, overlapped them, and couldn't find an answer for me. She kinda started to go on a 'they are totally different technologies, so looking at the OC's for distance and near would be too elementary' kick, but otherwise, she just said HOYA says 14 and 18mm.

Not the answer I was looking for out of my HOYA rep, but oh well.
