Customer was wearing Transitions in a standard CR 39 bifocal. I moved her into a Tivex GP Wide because of the rimless frame she chose. \
Her RX:
OD +2.75
OS +3.00 add +2.25 No AR
Love the lenses but complains they don't get dark enough. Checked against mine.Mine got noticably darker.
My RX Younger Image Trivex
OU +4.25 +3.00 add with AR.

I was told that AR will enhance darkening.True or False?

Would the Mfg. of the lenses make any difference?
If not (as I suspect) could the thickness be the cause, and if not that could it be the AR, and if not that, I am out of Ideas as to what the cause could be, or how to satisfy the customer. Jim and help would be appreciated.

Hello Harry,
AR will not make the lenses go darker. Anti-Reflective Transitions products will be clearer indoors and the outdoor performance should be the same as a non AR Transitions lens.

All of our Trivex® products are Transbonded™, all processed the same way. The performance is the same regardless of the manufacturer.

I am wearing the HOYA GP Wide Phoenix Transitions Gray with Carl Zeiss Super ET (they are two years old, Phoenix and Zeiss Carat® were in validation then). My lenses are in a Silhouette rimless too. They do very well here in Florida.

Any chance of the lab putting a uv absorbing hard coat over the factory hard coat? That could cause problems.
regards,
Jim
